Yacht designers use William Garvey

Furniture designer William Garvey’s distinctive bathroom interiors can now be found onboard some of the world’s most exclusive super yachts and luxury cruise liners as the marine designers embrace the company’s innovative light weight teak bathroom products.

When Bill Garvey founder of William Garvey Ltd was first asked to make a wooden bath, he looked to the marine industry for inspiration, having researched the most effective timber for use in direct contact with water it was evident that teak offered exceptional qualities.   “Teak is used extensively in the marine industry for its durability. The natural oils found within the timber protect it from water, resist marking and allow easy cleaning” he explains.

Following the success of his solid teak baths within hotels, spas and luxury interiors Bill Garvey has developed a way of making the baths much lighter – perfect for use in boat interiors, alleviating any issues with weight.  The marine version is identical in appearance to the original and retains the same strength; it is however constructed from a 100% waterproof teak exterior containing a lightweight core.  The marine version of the geo bath is made individually to order and William Garvey can create bespoke sizes to suit compact cabins and smaller spaces. The Geo bath is especially practical in tight spaces as it boasts an extra deep Japanese-style tub that is high rather than long.

The company also offers a comprehensive bespoke service whereby they can design and make lightweight bathroom interiors from scratch, examples include teak clad showers, handcrafted basins and wet room interiors.  William Garvey has also developed a collection of striking teak tiles, which are easy to fit – without grout, once more allowing lightweight interiors to be created.
