The French skyscraper climber who was nicknamed Spiderman, had pleaded not guilty to charges related to his bare-handed climb up a 57-storey building in Sydney, Australia.

Alain Robert, famous for climbing some of the world's tallest buildings without equipment, was arrested at the top of the Lumiere building on Monday.

Robert was charged with risking the safety of others by climbing a structure, and unlawful entry of an enclosed area. He could face jail for up to three months and a fine of £973 if convicted.

Robert has commented: "I was not endangering people. There was no point for me to plead guilty."
