Hotel La Tour Birmingham is due to open in spring with interior designs created by Manchester-based consultancy Space Invader in collaboration with in-house designer and operations manager, Adrian Colman.

The hotel will be the flagship development in a new chain of city centre hotels and is due to open on March 23rd this year. The £24m project is the first development underway in Birmingham's new City Park Gate district.

In spring 2011 Space Invaders were appointed to help design the hotel interiors. The consultancy have worked across areas including the hotel's bar, coffee shop and conference room buffet area. Space Invaders have previously worked on projects with Hyatt, Orange, Warbutons and Marks & Spencer.

Commenting on the project Space Invader director, John Williams, said: “We are delighted to have worked on this scheme with Hotel La Tour and it’s great to see the designs being brought to life as we near launch day. 

"The project has been a rare experience for the team as we have taken a genuinely collaborative approach between ourselves and Adrian Colman, the operations director. Adrian’s keen eye for design has developed a strong ethos behind the La Tour brand – modern twist on classic design – and we have worked with him to bring that through into the interior spaces. 

"The natural finishes that we have specified for the interior such as timber, copper and leather are all very classic, but have been delivered in a more contemporary way to provide depth, layer and texture. 

"Our brief was to create a stylish bar/restaurant that would not only serve guests of the hotel, but would attract residents and visitors to Birmingham by establishing La Tour as a stunning destination with great food and drink. Space Invader also developed the cafe and conference centre spaces each having their own individuality within the building.”
