Corinthia Hotels has announced that the interior of its brand new five-star hotel in central London will designed by GA Design International. The hotel is due to open in early 2011 and will be Corinthia's ninth across the globe.
The hotel is to be constructed within a Victorian building, on a city block location between Whitehall Place, Northumberland Avenue and Great Scotland Yard, overlooking Trafalgar Square and the River Thames.
The exterior will house traditonal grand Victorian features. The fully-reconstructed elegant and contemporary interiors will be set around an inner foyer, two restaurants, a concept cocktail bar, a luxury spa, boardroom meeting facilities, a garden and a refurbished grand ballroom.
Guest accommodation rooms will total 294 and be intricately designed. 45 of the rooms will be luxurious suites. Some will be located on duplex floors, inside historic turrets, and feature private lifts and terraces.
An especially extraordinary Royal Suite, at more than 470m2, will be the largest in London, and can be connected to nearby rooms to provide additional accommodation. Even the Corinthia’s individual bedrooms, averaging 45m2 in size, are amongst the largest in their category in London’s luxury hotel market.
Top designers and architects from around the world are behind the project. GA Design International is in charge of interior design. They shall also be creating the hotel’s 2,140m2 ESPA spa, which is set to be the first of its kind as it will be laid out over four levels, with pioneering design and treatment offerings. They shall also design the public spaces, one of the two restaurants and all of the suites.
The hotel's bar, Bassoon, and remaining restaurant, which will specialise in seafood, is to be created by world-renowned luxury interiors’ designer, David Collins. The interior design will apparently aim to deliver a mix of sophisticated luxury and ‘residential’ style.
Chairman and founder of the Corinthia Hotel Group, Alfred Pisani, said, “Once again, the eyes of worldwide travellers are turning towards the business and cultural attractions of London. Whether to regular visitors, or first time tourists from the newly emerging economies, London never loses its appeal. I am dedicating myself, personally and with great passion, to delivering to London a five-star, luxury hotel, which will be amongst the best-of-the-best in the world. Corinthia Hotel London will be a true grand hotel for the 21st century.” |
