HSi acquires fifth building services company
The HSi Group, the partnership between the Howard Group of Cambridge and Sandcliffe Investments of Milton Keynes, has acquired Doncaster-based MECsafe Group. The transaction is the fifth acquisition for the HSi Group since its formation in December 2005.

Companies within the Group include interior fit-out specialists, A T Jones of Fareham, Advanced Interiors of Wokingham and Adex Interiors of Hemel Hempstead along with roofing experts Fenland Flat Roofing of Cambridge.

MECsafe will complement these Group companies who all operate within the building subcontracting sector.

The MECsafe Group is one of the leading Construction Health and Safety Compliance and Training consultancies in the UK. Specialising in the application of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007, the Group has developed a reputation for providing practical assistance to Construction Health and Safety Management issues. The company serves all sectors of the building and construction industry from small maintenance, engineering and construction contractors to large principal-contractor organisations.

HSi sees the acquisition as an ideal opportunity for expansion geographically as well as increasing the Group’s current range of services. There will be the opportunity to work with the existing HSi Group companies within the interiors and roofing sectors and gain exposure to their client base.

Finance for the deal was provided by Santander, this is the first time the Group has worked with Santander as a funding partner.

Dale Jones, HSi Interiors Group chairman, commented. “MECsafe is an important acquisition for the Group.  Health & Safety is a major part of our day-to-day business as we continuously work on site and with leading operators in the construction industry. MECsafe’s experience in this sector of the industry will provide major opportunities for our Group to deliver high-quality health and safety training and certification to the construction sector. We are looking forward to working closely with the existing MECsafe team and expanding their business activities over the coming years.”
