evitavonni, interior design specialists, comments on the latest trends for winter 2010/11...
Key colour trends for winter 2010/11 are rich berry tones, understated metallics and natural neutrals.
Materials with a luxurious and tactile feel are very ‘in vogue’ at the moment featuring embroidered linens, high-quality cotton, exquisite silk, velvet and mohair.
Texture is also another focus for this season, adding depth and weight to fabrics, working particularly well with muted colours. Contrasting materials are offset next to one another such as smooth, tactile satins juxtaposed against textured wool and distressed velvet designs with intricate diamante, bead work and lace embroidery detailing adding extra interest.
In general, we believe the interior is taking on an altogether more feminine appeal. We are seeing this trend emerge with the popularity of sumptuous fabrics, soft ladylike colours such as dusty pinks and plum purples, and all things that sparkle. In particular this trend is apparent in the bedroom with the space taking on a boudoir feel, as the demand for luxurious cushions, chaise longues, dressing tables, glamorous chandeliers and separate dressing rooms increases.
Modern country chic style is also popular, bridging the interiors gap between light contemporary urban living and a more classic country style. Schemes which suit both environments for the client who is up to date with all of the latest trends and who is looking for something a little more contemporary in their country home without losing that timeless feel are becoming more common.
We always advise our clients to opt for or simply take inspiration from a trend which works well for them and suits their personal style; something which our experienced team of in-house interior designers are always able to advise on. So, whether you are redecorating your entire property, just one room or making small updates, opt for the trends which appeal personally to you and that will also stand the test of time. |
