Lighting designer and manufacturer,. PSLAB has been given the Good Design Award 2011 for a ceiling mounted fixture, conceived for the main reception of a private residence in Beirut, Lebanon.
Now in its 62nd year, Good Design is a prestigious awards program chosen annually by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.
.PSLAB’s winning product was created for the main reception of a private residence in Beirut, with the aim of unifying the space while providing a visual pattern, through the repetition of one module.
The module – a long cylinder split into two half bodies, with a white finish – was spaced and flipped to provide a specific pattern, varying in density. The lids at the mouths of the cylinders had their angles controlled to create a layer like fish scales – hiding the direct ambient light and creating a skin over the surface of the fixtures. |
